Circle Rainbow Aviation

In 1993, Circle Rainbow Aviation was a new division of Circle Rainbow Air with the new facility lease and financing being under Circle Rainbow Air (Airlines?) and Rainbow City Partners. I was hired to develop a new FBO to bring in additional revenue to the facility once completed. Ann Vasconcellos joined me in the startup efforts. We continued to develop the team that would provide the best service in the islands. We quickly took a good portion of the transient private/business jet business in Hawaii. We were proud of our accomplishments. Unfortunately over time it became increasingly difficult to work with the owner, Doug Ledet. His management style and demeanor was counterproductive to our long term success. 1998, exit stage left.

Circle Rainbow Aviation

was considered the FBO of choice for a number of years. It gained this distinction because of its experience and dedicated staff.

The "Line Service Technicians" did an excellent job.

Initial aircraft ops were handled with Hawaiian Airlines at the main terminal until facilities were in place on east ramp.

Before the new Kahului Airport terminal replace the old, the increase in direct mainland flights and its passengers saturated every area of the airport. The DOT-A brought in 5 modular trailer units to develop a holding/boarding gate area (5 gates) for United Airlines. Once the new terminal was completed the modular units were separated and stored at the airport maintenance base yard. The DOT-A was preparing to donate it to a local church when I approached Jon Sakamoto, Airport Manager to reassemble it on the east ramp and rent (revocable permit) to Circle Rainbow Aviation. He thought it was a good idea and agreed but asked if I would consider giving half the building to Air Service Hawaii as they have been asking for space as well. When Circle Rainbow closed its doors Air Service Hawaii took over the entire building where they still operate today.
